panelist Michael Scotto
Managing Director
The Private Portfolio Group

Michael Scotto began his career in 1984 with Shearson American Express, and has worked in various positions throughout the firm's many iterations. In 1989, Mike became a portfolio manager for Shearson Asset Management. He served as the Chief Investment Strategist for Legg Mason Private Portfolio Group, LLC., as well as a Senior Portfolio Manager working with high net worth individual and institutional clients. Mike's responsiveness to both clients and financial consultants has earned him a reputation as a top quality provider of service as well as experienced investment management.

A graduate of Long Island University in Brookville, New York, he received his B.S. in finance in 1984. Deeply committed to his family and community, Mike coaches local athletic teams in his home town.

panelist Gregory Miller
SunTrust Bank, Inc

Gregory Miller is Chief Economist with SunTrust Banks, Inc. He completed his graduate and undergraduate Economics degrees at Florida State University and has been a practicing economist, forecaster, and teacher for over 25 years.

As SunTrust’s Chief Economist, Mr. Miller forecasts the national economy, particularly its affect on interest rates. He advises corporate and bank boards of directors as well as SunTrust clients. He sits on committees charged with interest rate setting, corporate investment, and benefits policy. He is a policy advisor for Wealth and Investment Management and Corporate Investment Banking groups.

Mr. Miller represents SunTrust in business media, including CNBC News, Bloomberg News, Reuters, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, TheStreet.com and many local news media platforms.

Prior to joining SunTrust, Mr. Miller was on the faculty of the College of Business Administration at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Before joining USF, Mr. Miller served two Florida Governors in the Florida State Economist’s Office in Tallahassee.
In addition to his regular SunTrust duties, Mr. Miller is active in the National Association for Business Economics and the Financial Rountable.

Mr. Miller is also a member and past-chair of the Economic Advisory Committee of the American Bankers Association—a national group of economists who meet with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to discuss the economy and monetary policy.

panelist James Walling, CFA
Chief Operating Officer

James Walling is the chief operating officer for SVB Analytics, a wholly owned subsidiary of SVB Financial Group. SVB Analytics provides solutions to analytical problems that are specific to emerging growth technology, life science and venture capital companies. In that regard, SVB Analytics is rendering valuation opinions for clients to help them comply with tax and financial reporting requirements and delivering capitalization management solutions through the firms controlling stake in eProsper, Inc.

As chief operating officer, Walling oversees SVB Analytics' valuations services team, which counts more than 950 clients to date. Prior to joining SVB Analytics, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP's Valuation Group in San Jose, where he led valuation consulting and focused on complex security and derivative valuation projects, as well as tax and financial reporting valuations. Walling has more than 14 years of experience in the field and previously held leadership positions with valuation services groups at both Coopers & Lybrand and Arthur Andersen. Walling has also worked for several technology companies such as Appiant, Inc. and Quaartz Inc. and he was co-founder and CFO of ClearPath Technologies.

Walling holds a master's degree in business administration in finance and investments from Santa Clara University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
